On Friday, April 6, tragedy struck a Canadian hockey community. While traveling to a playoff game in a nearby town, a bus carrying the Humboldt Broncos, a Canadian junior hockey team, collided with a transport truck on a highway north of Tisdale, Saskatchewan. In total twenty-nine people were on the bus including most of the hockey team made up of young men aged 16 to 20. The heartbreaking accident resulted in a loss of life for 15 of the passengers and serious injuries to the remaining 14 passengers.
The nation quickly responded with an outpouring of sympathy and condolences. An emergency fund was set up to help the families affected. DSC has donated CAD$10,000 towards this fund. In addition, the school will hold a free dress day on Friday, April 13, 2018. The School will not collect donations for this free dress day.
